  • Senior/Master Level Operations and, Airfield Maintenance Personnel, which already passed the AGL Maintenance Seminar Test (CAP Certified)

Enrollment Process & Training Handbook
  • To earn the Airfield Ground Lighting Advanced Certified credential, an individual must attend/pass the Hands-On TEST  with a 80% or better score, ; Students are not required to take the exam. Testing occurs Thursday morning and the program will conclude at 1:00 p.m 
  • All materials will be provided upon arrival including a welcome gift
 Advanced Maintenance Seminar Topics
  • FAA Regulatory Documents – Brief review of critical FAA Advisory Circulars that impact maintenance of airfields Series Circuit Safety – FAA AC recommendations on safety, review of lock-out tag-out requirements, and Arc Flash overview
  • Troubleshoot, learn how to read schematics on the standard products such as Constant Current Regulators, LED PAPI, LED REILS, and Advanced Control Equipment (ACE), and refresh their knowledge and stay current with FAA 
  • Different types and technology. Review of control and monitoring functions, electrical performance, and proper sizing of airfield loads.
  • CCR theory of operation for thyristor and Ferroresonant Calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Approach equipment including L-849 REIL and L-880 PAPI

Airfield Laboratory hands-on Stations

  • CCR calibration and troubleshooting 
  • L-849 REIL diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • L-880 PAPI diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • L-829 monitoring and distributed control system monitoring (ACE) 

Training Schedule and Completion Certificate 

Training begins promptly at 830 a.m. on Tuesday so we recommend arriving at the hotel on Monday night The training program will last 2.5 days and  Thursday ending at 1:00 p.m.  To receive a Completion Certificate, you must attend all three (2.5) days of training in full and pass the Hands-On 100%

Prestigious AGL-Advanced Certificate 

To receive the prestigious Airfield Ground Lighting Advanced certificate, official title, you must complete a real case examination with a 100% score. Testing for the AGL- Advanced Certificate occurs on Thursday from 830 a.m. -1 00 pm. A boxed lunch will be provided to take with you.

A hot American breakfast is included each day in the training room. Lunch, snack breaks, and refreshments are provided each day of training at the Training Academy. A special dinner event is also included on Tuesday night. Dinner will be at your own expense on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.


Dress is casual consisting of pants, jeans, skirts, shirts with collars or not, blouses, sweaters, vests, sweatshirts, and casual shoes or tennis shoes. Please no open-toed shoes, sandals, shorts, tank tops, or athletic wear such as yoga pants or sweatpants. 


  • Airfield Maintenance Seminar with AGL-AAP (Advanced Airfield Professional) Certificate.  AGL AAP testing is required.
